Additional nights & touring extensions:
Ljubljana is the capital city and a centre for culture having been under Hapsburg rule for centuries.  It's historical buildings are still in tact despite the political conflicts over the centuries.  We recommend a night or two to explore its attractions, most notably the castle that overlooks the city, the cathedral of St Nicholas, the Baroque Old Town and more recent Art Nouveau mansions.  It's mostly a pedestrian zone so easy to get to know.

Maribor - The region of Maribor lies at the eastern end of the Julian Alps, 120km from Ljubljana.  It is in the town of Maribor that the oldest producing grape vine in the world at over 400 years, exists. This, and an extensive underground cellar beneath the entire city square  are icons of the town's wine culture which is age old and a proud tradition.
The wine roads of Maribor are a 'must do'  plus the walking the trails from of the alpine village of Pohorje through primeval forest, green pastures to lakes and waterfalls. Pohorje is just 10 minutes from Maribor so the best of both worlds.  Enquire about our 3 night package in Maribor.
