Itinerary and Highlights
- Day 1 Arrive Split
- Day 2 Depart to Dubrovnik. Afternoon city tour of Old Town visiting the Cathedral, Franciscan monastery and the famous town walls.
- Day 3 Monday. Dubrovnik – Mostar – Sarajevo. Depart to Mostar, ‘city of bridges’, via Pocitelj, a small town with typical Turkish architecture. In the afternoon continue to Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina where people of eastern orthodox, the Ottoman south and the Roman Catholic west, met, lived and warred. City tour of Sarajevo.
- Day 4 Tuesday. Sarajevo – Osijek. Morning departure to Osijek, the largest city in eastern Croatia, on the fertile banks of Drava River. Baroque style Osijek is the country’s semi-official gastronomic capital.
- Day 5 Wednesday. Osijek – Zagreb. The first sight of Djakovo is the brightness of the bricks of the two towers and cupolas of the most beautiful cathedral between Venice and Istanbul. Continue to Zagreb, capital of Croatia for a tour of the historical centre, St Mark’s church, Cathedral, Croatian National Theatre and University.
- Day 6 Thursday. Zagreb – Plitvice - Zadar. Walk on boardwalks through UNESCO World Heritage Plitvice Lakes – a natural phenomenon of rare and unique beauty consisting of 16 crystal – blue lakes cascading into 92 spectacular waterfalls and surrounded by dense woods. Overnight Zadar.
- Day 7 Friday. Zadar – Split. Tour of Zadar including the Roman Forum 2C BC, the 9thC pre-Romanesque church of St. Donatus as well as St. Anastasia church. Continue to the port of Trogir. Afternoon arrival in Split for a city tour of Diocletian’s Palace the Peristyle, Jupiter’s Temple and the Cathedral.
- Day 8 Saturday. Split - departure.
