ABOUT OUR TRIPS

Experience the world’s finest walking trails through regions steeped in history and culture, awash with nature and rich in gastronomy. Walking offers a perspective of travel different to that by other modes of travel.

Getting close to unique flora and fauna; reliving history along centuries-old pathways through villages unchanged by time; smelling the heavily laden scents of summer or the bush after it rains; listening to the echoes of birdsong, the pounding of the ocean or the silence of the mountains; are the special experiences that take you to the very heart of a region.

A Walker’s World have compiled a selection of independent (self-guided) and guided walking holidays that represent the best value for money for the standard offered.

Many of these walks are chosen from personal experience of the A Walker’s World team. This ensures accurate grading, quality of service plus interesting routes.

Popular routes that have been offered during A Walker’s World 18 years of operation plus others we are presenting for the first time, feature areas we believe to be high in natural beauty and offer cultural and historical interest. Our full selection is too numerous to feature so do enquire if your chosen region is not shown on this website.

Accommodation and Luggage Transfers.
Accommodation is in typical hotels, often family-run, spaced a day’s walk apart. For this reason, hotels can be of varying standards, between 2-4 stars. The pace is your own. Luggage is moved on to the next stop while you walk.

On these trips you are literally travelling in the world’s backyard, where local people go about their daily routines as they have done for centuries. The people are culturally different so do not expect things to be as they are at home.

Go with an open mind and a spirit of discovery, so your experience will be a rewarding one.

European
Guided Rambles

Our guided walks are made up of small compatible groups that number no more than 16 and are made up of different nationalities. Trips are graded indicating the degree of difficulty to allow you to choose a walk within your capabilities. To a certain degree you can take advantage of the backup vehicle to walk as little or as much as you like.

In the evenings you stay at characteristic, comfortable accommodation, usually two and three star standard, and share simple regional cuisine with like-mindend people – your tour party!

TALK TO AN EXPERT – Our staff are specialists in these types of holidays. They are experienced travel consultants who can advise you on how to get to and from these walks; provide further sightseeing suggestions; rail passes; rental cars; insurance and any other aspect that will enhance your holiday.

SERVICE & RELIABILITY – We want you to come back from your holiday and book another one with us – plus refer us to your friends.

Features of this programme are:
•  Pre-booked accommodation in rooms with private facilities, mostly on a bed and breakfast basis with dinners on some walks
•  Local contact; luggage transfers; detailed walking notes and route maps

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY ABOUT US
"We were very impressed and grateful for the level of help in planning our European trip" – Dave & Julie Lampitt, Auckland, NZ

The Way Of St James, Northern Spain – "The walk was brilliant. The notes were informative and easy to follow and we stayed in beautiful places. The hospitality and friendliness of the hosts was outstanding People knew you were on the pilgrim trail and we had some interesting conversations along the way - not understanding much but lots of hand waving and nodding ! We had beautiful food - simply cooked and very fresh - always with lovely red wine. We were superbly looked after all the way - people went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. I'm a fan of these types of holidays where you can really get a sense of the way people live and the history of the place. I'm looking forward to the next brochure !
Many thanks Therese for all your work."
